PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A consistent diet of foods high in trans fats and sugar can lead to physical health issues like heart disease and cancer, but what is the impact on our overall mental health?
According to a study of more than 200,000 people that started almost 30 years ago in Stockholm, Sweden, a diet high in sugar and triglycerides and low in good cholesterol contributes to an increased risk of anxiety, depression and the way a person handles stress.
The bad news: A poor diet impacts our mental health. The good news is that if we improve our diets, it has a tremendous impact on our physical and mental health.
