MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Eight students from a Montgomery County high school have been arrested and are now facing charges after a fight broke out last week.
According to our partners at NBC10, the fight started around 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Abington Senior High School’s cafeteria and ended when staff and security intervened.
Police say the altercation was between two groups of students, all under the age of 18, with a known history that's been escalating since Keivon Abraham, their 16-year-old classmate, was killed earlier this year in Philadelphia.
The eight students involved are being charged with riot and simple assault charges, and at least two more students are expected to be charged as well.
Police say no one was seriously injured, but they are investigating what led to the fight.
