PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You and your dog are invited to have some football-themed fun before the Super Bowl. The Pennsylvania SPCA and Craft Hall in Northern Liberties are teaming up for the fourth annual Bark Bowl to promote animal adoptions.
The Bark Bowl will be held the day before the Super Bowl, on Saturday, Feb. 8, between 1 and 4 p.m. at Craft Hall along Delaware Avenue. Dogs and puppies up for adoption will have their run of the indoor turf first before pooches of patrons can hit the field for 10-minute intervals.
“The puppies are Jalen, Saquon and DeVonta, so they are named after some of our favorite Eagles,” said PSPCA spokesperson Gillian Kocher. “Obviously we named them before we knew they were going to be in the big game, so we are pretty excited that we made it.
“And, we know a thing or two about underdogs,” she said. “We know this Eagles team is built to go all the way.”
Kocher said the Bark Bowl is a fun way to raise awareness for a serious lifesaving mission.
“It’s always important to spread the word that if you are looking for an animal to think about the shelter, and … we have resources available here for those who may need them,” she added. “It’s not just our mission now to get animals into homes, but to keep them there. So we are trying to do everything we can to help with that.”
There will also be a “yappy hour” menu available, and $1 from every drink sold will be donated to the PSPCA.
