PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Saquon Barkley had a big day on Feb. 9. Not only did he help the Eagles defeat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, but he also celebrated his 28th birthday the same day.
And now, a different kind of bird shares the running back’s name and birthday.
A blue penguin chick hatched on Feb. 9 at Camden’s Adventure Aquarium, and he was fittingly named Saquon.
The aquarium shared a first look at the week-and-a-half-old penguin on social media Thursday.
He will stay behind the scenes learning how to eat and swim until he’s about 2 months old, then he will join the colony in public view with his parents, Sheila and Spud, and their four previous chicks.
Blue penguins hail from Australia and New Zealand and are the smallest penguins in the world. At birth, Saquon the penguin chick weighed about 1 ½ ounces. Most likely, he’ll grow to only weigh about 2 or 3 pounds.
