PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — TSA officers stopped a man from bringing a loaded gun through a security checkpoint at Philadelphia International Airport on Monday — but it wasn't a passenger. It was an airport employee.
A TSA spokesperson said the man, who works at an airport concession shop, had taken the gun to a shooting range earlier and forgot he had it with him.
The 9mm gun was loaded with nine bullets, including one in the chamber.
The worker's airport ID was confiscated — meaning he cannot get to his job — and he received a citation from police.
This was the 26th gun confiscated at PHL this year. A record 44 guns were caught in 2022.
