PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Aqua Pennsylvania is telling its customers in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties on Wednesday that they no longer need to reduce what they call "nonessential water use" to help Aqua return to normal water supply.

Aqua asked its customers on September 2 to conserve water as it attempted to repair the Pickering West water treatment plant. Flood from the remnants of Hurricane Ida heavily damaged the plant, as it was entirely under water.

Crews repaired the plant to a partial operational level last Friday, while rerouting water supply from other sources to compensate for the loss of the Pickering West water plant.

40% of the water provided to customers in the Philadelphia area comes from Pickering West.

"From everyone at Aqua, I thank all our customers in Southeastern Pennsylvania for their support and cooperation," said Aqua Pennsylvania President Marc Lucca.

"With your help, we have recovered distribution system water storage to within normal levels and are able to end our earlier request."

Lucca asked customers to still "not be wasteful" with their water use.
