PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Aramark workers at Wells Fargo Center are highlighting upcoming events, including Wrestlemania, that could be disrupted if they go on strike.
Since members of the union representing food and beverage workers at the arena, authorized a strike last week, a “Strike Watch” tracker has been added to their website, listing upcoming events that could be affected.
The potential for a strike comes amid a week that welcomes Wrestlemania to South Philly. The main event is happening at Lincoln Financial Field, but Wells Fargo Center will host three events over the weekend. Other events listed include Sixers and Flyers games and a Nicki Minaj concert.
“Really, it could be any time. It’s really up to the negotiating committee,” said Kristianna Brown, a spokesperson for Unite Here Local 274.
“I think we’re hoping that the company will want to come back to the table. But if they don’t want to come back to the table, then we’re prepared to do what we need to do.”
Brown said Aramark hasn’t been at the negotiating table with workers since February.
“I guess there was an assumption that we would be going out right away, but the workers didn’t decide that.”
In a statement to KYW, Aramark said it has contingency plans in place in the event of a strike to “ensure our services are not interrupted and that the fan experience remains strong.”
