Medical Report: Are people with certain blood types at a greater risk for COVID-19?

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — COVID-19 is still a major health concern, but the successful development of vaccines and the natural evolution and mutation of the virus is leading public health experts to treat it more like the flu.

As with the flu, there is a continued need to protect ourselves with vaccines, take precautions and get early treatment if infected. Those in high-risk groups, like people over 65 and with underlying conditions, need to be particularly vigilant. But, what about people with certain blood types?


Early in the pandemic, scientists reported that people with blood type A were more likely to get infected than those with blood type O.
