PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker’s former chief deputy for planning and strategic initiatives has begun his new job.

Aren Platt announced Friday night that he’s becoming executive director of Parker’s political committee.

Platt was one of what Parker called the “big three” in her administration — the people she consulted on all major decisions. He announced two weeks ago he was leaving the administration.

Platt says his new role is very similar to his role before Parker was elected. He’ll oversee communications, strategy and fundraising for the mayor’s political activities.

Parker’s political side includes campaigning for candidates like Vice President Kamala Harris. Parker also will be seeking reelection in 2027.
