PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Federal authorities are investigating the armed robbery of a Brinks armored truck in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday.
It happened just after 9:30 a.m. Authorities said the truck was stopped along Torresdale Avenue, near Wellington Street, when two men armed with rifles robbed the truck and took off.
Law enforcement sources said they got away with $1.8 million in cash.
No one was hurt.
The FBI is handling the case and working with Philly police to identify suspects and recover the money.
