PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Twelve years after a Northeast Philly man’s body was found in the Schuylkill River and his SUV was set on fire, police have made an arrest.
Vito Maglio, 69, went missing in December 2014.
Police found his GMC Yukon on fire the next day in East Germantown, but they didn’t find his body until three months later, when it washed up in the Schuylkill River near the East Falls Bridge.
An autopsy determined Maglio died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
The killing went unsolved for more than a decade.
But on Tuesday, police arrested 30-year-old Melanie Morat. They have not yet explained her connection to Maglio.
Morat is charged with murder and conspiracy.
