ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Two police officers have been shot and a suspect killed in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
According to officials, the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, near Florida and Arctic avenues. Sources told our partners at NBC10 the officers were executing a search warrant.
One of the officers is expected to be OK, while the other suffered "life-threatening" injuries, according to an Atlantic City Police Department spokesperson, who added there is no active threat to the public.
"The fine men and women in blue of the Atlantic City Police Department put their lives on the line every day to protect our community, and I am grateful for their courage," said Mayor Marty Small, who offered his prayers to the officers, their families and colleagues in a statement. "We are hopeful for their full and speedy recovery."
