ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio)Atlantic City is being awarded a multi-million-dollar grant from the state to boost development.

According to officials, the plan is to revitalize downtown as well as neighborhoods. The $19 million from the state Economic Development Authority would match dollar-for-dollar with the financial commitment of developers. For reference, if the plan is for a $4-million project, the state would kick in $2 million.

Jim Rutala, who helped craft the grant proposal for the city, says the money can also be used for infrastructure and overall rehabilitation of the area.

“There’s been an emphasis on improving Pacific and Atlantic Avenues especially,” he said. “These funds will allow these projects and other projects to be leveraged.”

Rutala says the applications are accepted on a first come first served basis and the work must be completed by 2026.
