NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Atlantic City Police have arrested a man they say attempted to lure and sexually assault two children.
Police responded to a report on June 22 of a 13-year-old girl meeting up with a man, identified as 21-year-old Javier Erazo, at the intersection of Kingston and Sunset Avenues in Atlantic City, close to the inlet and near a playground.
When officers arrived, they found the two and began questioning them about their relationship, learning they met on social media.
Police say further investigation by the Special Victims Unit revealed Erazo knew of the girl’s age and wanted to engage in a sexual relationship with her. He was then taken into custody.
Detectives later learned that Erazo was the subject of another investigation back in March of 2019, where he is suspected of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl when he was 16.
Police say Erazo made incriminating statements while being interviewed, leading him to also be charged in that case.
He is charged with attempting to lure or entice a juvenile, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. Erazo is currently being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
