CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities discovered ATM skimming devices at several different locations in Montgomery County.

The skimmers were attached to machines located in stores in Conshohocken, Ambler, West Norriton, Cheltenham and Abington.

“People just need to watch their money and be just be careful,” said Nijee Gary, who works at the 7-Eleven on Fayette Street in Conshohocken, where one of the skimmers was discovered on Monday.

“The card reader was located internally, and above the keypad included a small camera to capture the pin as it is entered by the user,” the Conshohocken Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Locations like these are easy targets, according to retired FBI special agent J.J. Klaver.

“A scammer who wants to install these on a machine has to have some time where they’re not being watched, the machine is unattended,” he said.

Law enforcement officials advise people to check their bank statements for any unauthorized transactions and report them immediately to their financial institution.

When using an ATM, authorities say to double-check the machine for anything that looks suspicious before inserting your card, and cover the keypad while typing in your PIN.
