PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police were called to Norristown State Hospital in Montgomery County Friday morning because of a shooting on campus.

Norristown police officers, along with Pennsylvania State Police, arrived at the hospital around 7:40 a.m. and found a man in a car who was injured from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The 25-year-old was brought to another hospital for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

Norristown State Hospital is a psychiatric facility, treating patients with persistent mental illness.

Pennsylvania State Police are leading the follow-up investigation and taped off a section of the parking lot so they have room to focus on one red car.

Operations elsewhere on campus continued while police investigated.
