Ay, caramba! Moe's Tavern pop-up coming to Delco's Springfield Mall

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Here's something that will have fans of the hit animated series "The Simpsons" muttering a loud "excellent" (in the voice of Mr. Burns, of course).

A staple of the show is coming to life in the region when a Moe's Tavern pop-up bar, Homer's favorite hangout, opens in Delaware County next month.

"Where else do you want to bring Moe's except to Springfield?" said JMC Popups CEO Joe McCullough, the group responsible for this attraction.

"So we're going to have Moe's Tavern in the Springfield Mall."

Barney, Lenny and Carl may not be there, but it will still remind you of the dive bar you see on TV.

"When you step through that front wall the façade will look like Moe's," said McCullough, "and when you walk through that door, we've got the bar to the right, booths to the left, pool table in the middle and all those little fun things like the love testing machine. That's all going to be there."

Duff Beer won't be on tap, but don't say "d'oh" yet, Homer.

"Evil Genius is doing a special brew with a Simpsons inspired theme to it," said McCullough.

Plus, you can always order a Flaming Moe if the mood strikes.

"We're more focused on the Moe's Tavern experience than we are the overall Simpsons experience," McCullough added.

"We're more about playing on the experience of going to the dive bar."

With that being said, dressing up as your favorite character is encouraged. Just no prank phone calls, please.

More information is available online.

Part of the proceeds benefit a nonprofit McCullough started with his daughter as well as Ronald McDonald House.
