PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Philadelphia Police say a 3-week-old girl was killed in a car crash that happened on Roosevelt Boulevard Thursday night. Three others, including another baby, were injured.

Police say the baby girl, identified as Nayeli Torres of National Park, N.J., was in her mother's lap in the front passenger seat when crash happened.

At around 11 p.m. officers on patrol came across two cars that were involved in an accident at Harbison Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia, Police said.

Both cars were heading in the opposite direction on Harbison Avenue. Police say a 2005 Honda, driven by a 21-year-old woman, with another woman in the front passenger seat, the baby girl and a 4-month-old boy, was eastbound, and a 2008 Acura, driven by a 29-year-old man, was westbound.

When the westbound driver attempted a left-hand turn to go southbound on Roosevelt Boulevard, the Honda T-boned the passenger side of his Acura. Which driver had the right of way is still unclear and under investigation.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said there were two car seats in the Honda. Police say, however, only the baby boy was properly restrained in the rear seat.

The two women and the two infants were taken to Einstein Medical Center, where Small said the baby girl was pronounced dead. The other three had minor injuries.

The driver of the Acura suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital.

Small said investigators would speak with the two drivers and look at surveillance footage from the area.

UPDATE: Several details, including the age of the baby girl and the conditions of the accident have been updated with new information from police.
