PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Six people were hurt in a serious boating accident near Long Beach Township. Two of them are in critical condition.
The boat struck a channel marker in Barnegat Bay around 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Two people were thrown into the water and were critically hurt. Four others suffered minor injuries.
A man who heard the crash told NBC10 that the people who were still on the boat managed to rescue the pair who had been thrown overboard, but it took them about 15 minutes to do it.
The damaged boat was taken to a marina near Brant Beach.
The crash is under investigation. Officials say no other boats were involved, and they don't yet know what caused it.
