PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A black bear that was spotted several times over the last few days in a section of Montgomery County has been captured, officials said Friday.
The Plymouth Township Police Department previously reported a sighting and urged residents to be cautious in the area of Hickory, Walton, Township Line and Narcissa roads in Plymouth Township.
On Friday, the department announced that the bear had been captured and would be relocated by the Pennsylvania Game Commission at some point today.
A property owner who lives near Hickory Road saw a black bear swimming in a pond on Thursday but when Pennsylvania Game Commission officials arrived, the animal was gone.
Hours earlier, before dawn, the bear was seen wandering in the Plymouth Meeting Mall parking lot, close to the Edge Fitness Club and Whole Foods, according to police.
The night before, there were sightings outside Saint Helena Church and School in Whitpain Township as well as East Norriton and Worcester Township.
