PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man riding a bike was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Port Richmond Sunday night.
It happened around 8 p.m. near Aramingo and Lehigh avenues. A witness saw it happen and helped police find the striking car.
“The witness did track that vehicle that he saw leaving the scene. He was able to get a plate on that vehicle and tracked him to the area of Aramingo and Cambria inside the laundromat there,” said Philadelphia Police Capt. Timothy Stephan.
Police said several young people jumped out of the car and ran away.
Police found the owner of the car, and his 21-year-old daughter told investigators she was the one driving it. She is being detained for questioning.
Police have not been able to identify the bicyclist who was killed. They say he had multiple IDs on him and a starter pistol, like the kind used during races.
