PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A trip to Philadelphia is on the president’s public schedule without specifics as to why, but speaking to reporters at Rehoboth Beach on Sunday, Joe Biden explained what he will be doing in town.

“To see my No. 3 grandchild graduate from Penn,” he said.

Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will attend the University of Pennsylvania’s commencement ceremony Monday to support their granddaughter. Traffic is expected to be a mess in the morning and afternoon, and security will be tight at Franklin Field.

The president is not scheduled to speak. Tony Award-winning actress and singer Idina Menzel  is delivering the commencement address.

The ceremony begins at 10:15 a.m. at Franklin Field. Air Force One is expected to land at Philadelphia International Airport some time before that. The presidential motorcade will likely tie up traffic on I-95 and I-76 around that time.

There will also be airport-style security at the Franklin Field entrances, which opened at 7 a.m. Attendees were asked to come early.

The president is not scheduled to fly back to Washington, D.C. until later in the afternoon.
