PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Fire tore through a popular Irish pub in Rittenhouse Square Monday night while customers were inside.
It started around 8:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Pub at 17th and Latimer streets.
Firefighters said there was thick smoke on the second and third floors of the bar.
The pub’s owner, James Stephens, told NBC10 he plans to rebuild.
“Listen, nobody was hurt. Everything can be rebuilt,” he said. “I talked to the fire marshal. I’ll find out more over the next day or two. But we’ve been here 25 years and it’s not gonna put us out of business, that’s for sure.”
He said he hopes that the pub will be able to reopen in time for the World Cup.
