SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A former Hamilton Township Board of Education employee has been charged after authorities said he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl.

Hamilton Township police arrested and charged 34-year-old Darnell Williams with sexual assault, child endangerment and official misconduct, all second-degree offenses.

According to the criminal complaint, Williams assaulted the child in his car outside of the hotel where her family was living back in February.

Investigators said Williams was working as a supervisor of pupil and personnel services with the Hamilton Township Board of Education, and he had permission from the parents to drive the girl to and from William Davies Middle School for an event.

Court documents show that when they got back, he turned off the car lights while in the hotel parking lot. The victim told police that Williams kissed her and reached under her sweater to grope her chest.

A social media account apparently belonging to Williams stated he’s a husband and father, and he has numerous photos of himself coaching basketball and working with students of various ages.

A court date for Williams wasn’t immediately announced.
