PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three bodies were discovered in different parts of the region — two in Philadelphia and one in Delaware.
One was discovered on Knights Road in Northeast Philadelphia, near the Franklin Mall.
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, Michael Sawka and a friend went fishing in the Poquessing Creek in the woods across the street, and he said they found the remains.
“It was gruesome,” he said. “Didn’t look like a person.”
Sawka called the cops. Police said these were the skeletal remains of an adult. The medical examiner will determine the identity and the cause of death.
Hours prior, police found another body in the Delaware River by Columbus Boulevard and Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia. Police also don’t know who the person is or how they died.
And finally, over in Dover, Delaware, workers mowing the lawn near West North and Banning streets found a decomposing body near a retention pond. The area hasn’t been maintained in more than a year.
Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play. An autopsy is needed.
There’s no indication from police that all three of these discoveries are connected.
