PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It’s an unexpected day off for students in one Burlington County School District.

According to our partners at NBC10, there are no classes in Bordentown Regional School District Monday after the teachers union said its members would not be in the classroom. They've been in a contract dispute with the district.

Members of the Bordentown Education Association say they've asked the board for fair “pay that's within the means of our community, and that meets the average salaries of teachers (across the county).”

The superintendent says while the district values and supports teachers, it “does not condone activity that may disrupt operations or inconvenience parents and children.”

Students and teachers will have to make up for the time lost in May.
