4-year-old boy among two injured in Wilmington shootout, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Wilmington police are investigating a shootout Sunday evening that left a 4-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man wounded.




Police said it was around 6:30 p.m. when the 18-year-old allegedly exchanged gunfire with several other unknown individuals on the 1400 block of West Third Street, near North Rodney Street.

The 18-year-old was shot, as was a 4-year-old boy. They were both taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

According to authorities, charges against the 18-year-old are pending in this incident; he was wanted by police for an unrelated matter.

It’s unclear who was supervising the child at the time of the shooting.
