PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One teenage boy is dead and another was taken to the hospital in separate shootings Thursday night.

Police say that at around 8:30 p.m. someone shot a 17-year-old five times in South Philadelphia near South 23rd and Federal streets.

He was taken to Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police later identified him as Isaiah Odom.

At about 6:05 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after, investigators say, he was shot in the shoulder and was grazed by a second bullet on his face on North 27th Street and Ridge Drive.

He was placed in stable condition.

At the time of both of the shootings, nobody was arrested and no weapons were recovered.

Since 2023 started, the City Controller's Office reports at least a dozen juveniles have been shot in Philadelphia. A 15-year-old boy was shot Tuesday while heading to Overbrook High School for class.
