PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police used an iPad to track down a little boy in an SUV that was stolen from Strawberry Mansion Tuesday night.
Shortly before midnight, police said a woman left her Toyota RAV4 running with her son inside while she went into a family member’s house, located near 30th Street and Susquehanna Avenue. That’s when someone jumped into the SUV and sped off.
Fortunately, the 4-year-old had an iPad with him. Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said they were able to use the remote tracking feature to locate the kid — and the car.
They tracked it down about 15 minutes later and a few blocks away at 29th and Flora streets. The boy was in the back seat — still sleeping. The thief, however, was gone.
Investigators are checking surveillance cameras to see if they can identify the suspect.
