NEWARK, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — More than 1,000 adoptable dogs, puppies, cats and kittens will be under one Delaware roof this weekend waiting to greet you.

Brandywine Valley SPCA will be holding a Mega Adoption event at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BVSPCA hosts Mega Adoptions twice a year. They’ve helped nearly 16,000 animals find their fur-ever home and, according to their website, it is the largest adoption event in the country.

“Every single animal that gets adopted is opening up a space for another life that we can save,” said Sara Smith, communications director for BVSPCA .

Smith says they have 10 partners bringing their animals, including some local shelters like Faithful Friends Animal Society and ACCT Philly. There will also be animals from other states including Texas, Mississippi and Alabama, where she says there aren’t enough adopters.

Leashes and carriers will be available for purchase, or, you can bring your own.

Adoption fees are $35 and include spaying and neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping.
