BRIDESBURG (KYW Newsradio) — In a little more than a week, drivers in Bridesburg won’t be able to use the Bridge Street ramp to northbound I-95. The ramp will be closing for good until a new one is complete in a different location.

PennDOT Spokesman Brad Rudolph said the Bridge Street ramp will close on Friday, Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. Drivers wanting to get on I-95 northbound will now have to go three miles up Tacony Street and State Road to get to the Milnor Street on-ramp.

The new ramp is being built from Tacony Street and the Delaware Avenue extension, but won’t open for more than a year.

Rudolph said northbound traffic will also shift to the southbound side of I-95.

"This is really the final phase to reconstruct the northbound lanes,” he said. “The southbound side is newly-constructed. Motorists will be using that for the duration of the ramp closure."

It’s part of a $268 million project to rebuild the viaduct that carries I-95 over Bridge and Tacony Streets. The project isn’t expected to be finished until early 2028.
