PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 66-year-old Bucks County man is accused of uploading numerous child sex abuse materials that he made using Grok AI, to X, formerly Twitter.
Bucks County Detectives said they were tipped off that someone in their jurisdiction had created and uploaded child sex abuse materials by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
They said the ensuing investigation led them to Harry Tiffany of East Butler Avenue in New Britain, Bucks County. Police said between April 15 and 25, Tiffany created at least 37 images using the AI tool Grok and uploaded them to X.
Police searched Tiffany’s home earlier this month, and he was arraigned Tuesday charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child sex abuse material and criminal use of a communication facility.
The charges against Tiffany come on the heels of a lawsuit filed by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office against X.AI, the company that made Grok, Roblox, Meta and other tech companies for failure to create protections for children and systems that prevent the creation of child sex abuse materials. That lawsuit was filed in a federal court in California.
Tiffany is being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $200,000 bail.
