PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three people were injured in two shootings in Olney that police are investigating as connected. One of the victims, a bus driver, was caught in the crossfire while on the job.

It happened just before 9 a.m. in an alleyway between Lindley Avenue and Ashdale Street, near Second Street.

Police say a 32-year-old man was shot in the head and is in extremely critical condition in the hospital. A 56-year-old bus driver was struck by a bullet in the left torso, then came to a stop at Ninth Street and Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police say the bus driver, who was operating a shuttle, not a school bus or a SEPTA vehicle, was caught in the crossfire and was not targeted.

Most of the alleyway between Second and Third streets is closed while police investigate. There are at least five chalk outlines where evidence markers used to be as well.

Police say a shooting that took place nearby two hours prior is related to this incident. Around 7 a.m. a 39-year-old man was shot in the lower back inside a home on Ashdale Street. He is in stable condition at the hospital.

Investigators have not yet explained how the two shootings are related.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
