PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A major expansion has been announced at Camden's Cooper University Health Care and its MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The $2 billion investment was announced Monday.
Over the next decade, three new clinical towers are proposed to be built. They are expected to house more than 100 private rooms for patients.
With that, more jobs are expected to open up as well.
The announcement comes as the City of Camden continues its upward trajectory, said New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.
"Through these investments among much more, we can all rest assured that the health and well-being of our residents will be in good hands,” Murphy told NBC10.
Murphy and hospital officials were joined by former Gov. Chris Christie, U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross, D-Camden, George Norcross and Camden Mayor Vic Carstarphen.
The health system called the investment the largest in Camden County's history.
