PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Democrats who did not vote in last month’s primary election in New Jersey are being named and shamed by their own party.

Jim Beach, Democratic Party chairman in Camden County, emailed a six-page list of non-voters to subscribers of the committee’s newsletter.

Beach, a state senator, called it “disgraceful” that these “prominent” local Democrats did not vote.

There are 286 names on the list, first reported by Politico. However, not all are elected officials; in fact, some appear to be family members of people running for office, as well as others recruited to fill out party ballots.

According to the New Jersey Globe, Beach’s list included council and committee members from across Camden County, as well as Gloucester City Mayor Dayl Baile.

Beach said there is “no good excuse” for sitting out the contested primary for Camden County commissioner, especially when early and mail-in voting were available.

He wrote, “If these folks couldn’t be bothered to vote … it’s fair to ask whether we should be bothered to support them next year.”
