NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A Camden man, his wife and his son are accused of murdering a man and dismembering his body earlier this summer.
Harold Miller Jr., 48, of Deptford, was reported missing to Deptford Township police on June 14. He was last seen playing cards with friends in Camden two days prior.
Investigators say cellphone records and surveillance cameras showed him entering a home on the 2600 block of Baird Boulevard in Camden shortly before 11:30 a.m. on June 12. Then, a single gunshot was heard.
He was never seen leaving the property after that, but video captured 41-year-old Everton Thomas moving Miller’s car. The car was later found in Pennsauken.
Investigators said Everton’s wife, 41-year-old Sherrie Parker, and son, 22-year-old Deshawn Thomas, purchased a chainsaw, containers, trash bags, and other cleaning supplies after Miller went inside the house. They were seen taking several trips to dumpsters and loading containers and trash bags into a car before leaving the city.
Detectives then searched the house and found a loaded firearm and blood stains that matched Miller’s DNA. The next day, Everton fled to Canada. He was taken into custody crossing back into the United States in Buffalo on Monday.
His wife and son were taken into custody in Camden the same day. They are charged with second-degree desecration of human remains and fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence.
