SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — U.S. marshals arrested a woman in West Philadelphia on Monday who was wanted in connection with the death of an infant in Camden two months ago.

A 4-month-old baby boy was found dead inside a trash bag in a bassinet at a home on Lakeshore Drive in Camden on May 19.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said the baby was being cared for by 43-year-old Ebony Gee since April.

A witness told authorities that Gee wouldn’t allow them to see the infant and never saw the child in her home. But on May 19, the witness entered the bedroom and saw the dead baby. The witness called police.

That same day, prosecutors said Gee sent the witness threatening texts.

U.S. marshals said Gee was found at a home near 54th and Webster streets in West Philadelphia on Monday, July 14, and taken into custody without incident.

Gee is facing desecration of human remains and witness tampering charges. Due to the condition of the body, the medical examiner was unable to determine the cause or manner of death.

Anyone with information on the child’s death is asked to contact the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit at 856-930-5355.
