PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Cancer survivors often claim their attitudes helped them beat the disease. Can it actually make a big difference?
Studies have shown that positive thoughts and energy help a person stay active, build personal connections and seek help if needed. All of these things can have a positive impact.
This is quite difficult to prove scientifically, and the National Cancer Institute recognizes the importance of a person's approach to illness but stops short of making a direct connection to defeating cancer.
The medical literature has numerous studies linking positive attitude with improved outcomes.
