PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Delaware are investigating after multiple people in a New Castle County neighborhood reported their car brake lines were cut.

The latest incident was reported Sunday morning in the community of Commodore Estates in Middletown. New Castle County police said the brake lines were cut on several vehicles along Bakerfield Drive.

Authorities said there was a similar incident in January about a mile away in the Bayberry South neighborhood. In that case, an elderly couple found that their brakes had been cut overnight.

Senior Corporal Richard Chambers with New Castle County Police says they are working to see if the two incidents are related.

If you believe your brakes are cut or damaged, do not attempt to drive, officials warn. Call the police immediately and then contact a mechanic.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to email keith.sydnor@newcastlede.gov or call the New Castle County Police Department at 302-573-2800. Tips can also be submitted online.
