PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A person has been taken to a hospital after their car went into the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia early Thursday evening.
Dive teams extracted the car at about 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of Kelly Drive and Ferry Road.
There was no initial word on the person's condition. The car had significant damage after being extracted from the river. It collided with a tree, which also was damaged.
Drivers on the evening commute encountered road closures and heavy traffic near the area as crews used equipment to bring the car out of the river.
