PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As many as 100 drivers found themselves stranded Wednesday evening because of bad gas.
Soon after filling up at a Conoco station along Admiral Wilson Boulevard in Camden, car after car quickly broke down. The gas had been contaminated by floodwater.
“ As soon as I pulled off and went up the ramp, it started sputtering, sputtering, sputtering, so I pulled over,” one driver, Brenda Moore, told NBC10.
“As soon as I left here, I see all the cars … all broke down. And then mine did the same thing,” said George Rogers.
The owner of the gas station said he didn’t know water got into the underground tanks. He said he took down the contact information of impacted drivers.
That gas station is now closed. Anyone who thinks they may have gotten contaminated gas there should call the Camden Division of Weights and Measures at 856-374-6001.
