PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Several people in Fairmount woke up Monday morning to find their cars broken into or missing all four wheels. Police are investigating whether the thefts are connected.
Elias Sulpizio’s brand-new Honda was targeted. He discovered it sitting on plastic crates.
“Car was brand new, 1,000 miles on it,” he told NBC10. “I had to be here for a few years, decided to trade it in and get something new. But might be regretting that.”
He said the thieves only took a phone charger from inside the vehicle.
Multiple other Hondas were targeted in the area. One car was found on plastic crates at 25th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Another was left on crates at 18th and Brandywine streets. A third had its wheels stolen blocks away, at 18th and Francis streets.
On that same block, two other cars still had their wheels, but their front, side and rear windows were broken into.
Police are still investigating whether these break-ins are connected.
