PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with the assault and robbery last month of an elderly woman inside a Germantown pharmacy.
Janhyi Boyd is accused of pulling the victim to the ground while she waited for her prescription to be filled.
Prosecutors say, on Oct. 18, Boyd tried to yank the woman’s purse from her inside of the Rite-Aid near the intersection of Wayne and West Chelten avenues. The woman held onto it, which is when he knocked her down and dragged her across the floor, prosecutors say.
Officials say officers responding to the scene arrested Boyd as he tried to get away. He faces several charges including robbery, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and evading arrest.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Elder Justice Unit is prosecuting the case. They urge anyone who suspects crimes being committed against seniors to call 911.
