PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The husband of a Chester County woman who went missing eight years ago has been charged with her murder.

The Chester County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday that Allen Gould was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Gould, 60, first reported his 43-year-old wife Anna Maciejewska missing on April 12, 2017.

However, a subsequent investigation revealed she likely disappeared a week or so before, at the end of March. That raised more questions about her husband.

“In fact, the defendant wasn’t the first person to report his own wife missing to the Pennsylvania State Police,” said Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena Sarobe.

He said Maciejewska’s co-workers at the company where she worked in West Chester first filed a report with police.

An affidavit said they initially called Gould to ask where his wife was after two no-call, no-shows in a row. They said they were concerned when he said he hadn’t seen her either, but would wait before filing a report with police.

When he did, he said he last saw Maciejewska on April 10, rushing out the door to work, taking her Audi sedan. This would be another piece of evidence against Gould revealed by de Barrena Sarobe.

“Law enforcement was able to search the car’s internal data information and learn that the car had never been driven on April 10 as the defendant reported,” he said.

Prosecutors also said a poorly translated happy birthday message in Polish, Maciejewska’s native language, that she sent to her father was another piece of evidence. An affidavit said divorce papers were also found at Gould’s residence.

Maciejewska’s body has never been found. Gould is currently held in Chester County Prison, charged with first degree murder, criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, false reports, and further offenses.
