Chester County woman charged with stabbing father, his girlfriend to death on Long Beach Island

Victims were 87 and 75 years old

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with the stabbing deaths of her father and his girlfriend on Long Beach Island.

Authorities say officers responded to a wellness check at a house on North 7th Street in Surf City on Sunday. They found a gruesome scene of two bloodied bodies, each with multiple stab wounds.

Police believe the stabbings occurred a few days prior.

The victims were identified as 87-year-old John Enders and his girlfriend, 75-year-old Francoise Pitoy. Enders had suffered stab wounds to the neck.

On Monday, police arrested 55-year-old Sherry Lee Heffernan — Enders’ daughter — at her house in Landenberg, Chester County.

She is facing two murder charges, along with several other related offenses.

Police said it didn’t take long for them to suspect Heffernan, though they declined to specify how. A motive for the killings has not been released either.

Heffernan is being held pending a detention hearing in Ocean County.
