CHESTER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A Chester police officer was injured after authorities said he was attacked while responding to a domestic incident Tuesday morning.
City of Chester officials said the officer was assaulted while trying to manage the situation, and he “suffered lacerations.”
The officer was treated at the hospital and is expected to soon be released.
“We are grateful that our officer’s injuries are not life-threatening and that he is expected to recover,” Mayor Stefan Roots said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our police officers remain of utmost importance.”
Police are evaluating the suspect’s mental health. The incident remains under investigation.
