KENSINGTON (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating after officers found a baby girl unresponsive and she later died at the hospital.
Authorities were called to a house on East Somerset Street, just off Kensington Avenue, not long after 7 p.m. Thursday.
Officers found an unresponsive 1-year-old. Medics rushed her to nearby St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she was pronounced dead.
Officials believe she drowned in the bathtub. Police said they found a tub in the second-floor bathroom that was filled with water, and there was water on the floor in the dining room below.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit is looking into the case.
