9-year-old girl injured in North Philly hit-and-run

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 9-year-old girl in North Philadelphia and kept going.

It was around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday when police said the child was hit by a car as she walked near the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Westmoreland Street in the Franklinville neighborhood.


The girl was rushed to St. Christopher’s Hospital in stable condition.

According to authorities, the driver fled the scene. Investigators have not provided a description of the vehicle, but they have asked anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Philadelphia Police Department's tipline at 215-686-TIPS.
