6-year-old killed, more than a dozen injured in South Jersey apartment fire

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 6-year-old boy was killed and more than a dozen other people were hurt in an apartment fire in Mercer County, New Jersey.

The blaze started around 3 p.m. Thursday on the fourth floor of Cambridge Hall Apartments, located on Lower Ferry Road in Ewing Township.

The boy was trapped on the fourth floor. Firefighters got him out but he died at the hospital.

Three other residents, as well as 13 police officers and one firefighter, were treated at the hospital for minor burns, smoke inhalation and exhaustion.

The American Red Cross is helping 16 people from 12 different apartments.
