PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 6-year-old boy is in critical condition after he and two other children were hit by a car in Southwest Philadelphia Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., police said the children were crossing the street near the trolley stop at 68th Street and Woodland Avenue when they were struck.

Witnesses saw the children look both ways before crossing the street, NBC10 reported, and said the driver hit the kids after swerving to avoid another car.

The 6-year-old suffered severe head and face injuries. The other children — an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl — were placed in stable condition at the hospital. All of the kids suffered leg, face and arm wounds.

After the crash, police said the 44-year-old driver stopped and remained on the scene while medics brought the victims to the hospital. It is not clear if she will face any charges.
